Meditation

When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers -
the moon and the stars you have set in place -
what are mortals that you should think of us,
mere humans that you should care for us?

For you made us only a little lower than God,
and you crowned us with glory and honour.

Ps. 8:3-5 (NLT)

Imagine the hidden potential within each of us that would induce the psalmist to say "you made us only a little lower than God...". Wow.

Psalm 8 is one of the psalms that my mother made us memorize when we were children. I hated her then for it, I thought it was the most annoying practice. But between Psalm 1, 8, 27, and 52, I always have something to think about and meditate on, whether it be about God himself, God's relation to me and the way that I relate to God.

He made us a little lower than Himself... and felt us so worth it that he would choose to put himself to death for us. That thought alone gives me shivers...

I love this Psalm. It frees me. It brings me to life.
