I remember when I first heard this song a few years ago on MTV. I too was thrilled, or at least happily surprised. A singer breaking into the main stream, singing about Christ... but, just like Where is the Love by Black Eyed Peas, Jesus Walks was followed by a handful of other songs that are typical of the hiphop genre. Kanye strikes me as someone trying to only draw attention to himself, and he(or his managers) chose a religious song to do just that.
